Back in 2020, Serena Williams launched her very own design team to create a platform for diverse designers to work alongside her and Nike. Each year, ten talented designers are chosen to help put innovative twists on some of Nike’s most beloved silhouettes, and for the first addition to the class of 2023, they’ve decided to go big with a bold take on the iconic Air Max 1.
The SWDC x Nike Air Max 1 features two vibrant shades of orange on the base and overlays, while the mudguard, midsole, and outsole are covered in white, complemented by clear jade-colored mini-Swooshes. Regarding materials, this AM1 features a premium mix of leather, textile, and suede on the upper. Nike Air branding on the pull-tabs at the heel also appears in a clear jade hue, while branding on the orange tongue features in white.
At the time of writing, the SWDC x Nike Air Max 1 doesn’t have an official release date yet. Although, as always, when we know, you’ll know. Stay tuned!
