The partnership between Onitsuka Tiger and Berlin based Koi Klub started about eight years ago. Several collaborations later it is time for the latest project between the two.
The Koi Klub is based on an idea by our very dear friend Yoske Nishiumi, who wanted to bring together creative people to display their various talents and works.
The word koi has six different meanings in Japanese.
Yoske about the inspirations for the latest Koi Klub sneakers “-One of the meanings of the Japanese word koi is “on purpose” or “purposefully”in English.
Yoske about the choice of colors and materials “-they are purposefully chosen colors that don´t match and materials that don´t match.”
The X-Caliber from Onitsuka Tiger was originally a running shoe that was manufactured during the early 1980´s under the name of ASICS X-Caliber. Rumour has is that ASICS Europe aren´t allowed to bring back more than one silhouette per year so they brought back the X-Caliber with the Onitsuka Tiger name.
Both colorways of the 4th collaboration between Koi Klub and Onitsuka Tiger drops in limited numbers at Sneakersnstuff May 28th.
Retail price is set to 999 SEK or 110 Euros.
