Happy B-Day Vans!

On March 16, 1966 – 50 years ago more specifically – the Van Doren Rubber Company opened up in Anaheim, California as a small family-owned factory with big dreams. Their shoes were soon quickly appriciated by skateboarders for Vans’ rugged make-up and rubber sole and were later adopted by the rising subculture. Today, on Vans’ 50th anniversary, they’re launching The Story of Vans Series – a visual campaign that tells their story of how their shoes have been influencing and fostering a culture of creative expression through action sports, art, music and street culture.

The Story of Vans series include five different animations that illustrates Vans origins in action sports, art, music and fashion. Each story is narrated by long-time Vans enthusiast such as the professional skateboarders Jeff Grosso and Tony Alva plus the artist and musician Ray Barbee, Chuck D of Public Enemy and fashion icon and actress Chloe Sevigny lend their vocals for the art, music and fashion shorts, respectively.

As a part of their 50th anniversary, Vans’ are releasing a 50th Anniversary Pack with woven checkboard and are now available at our locations in Stockholm, Paris, London and online at Sneakersnstuff.com.
