adidas originals POD-S3.1 LAUNCH IN LONDON

This week saw adidas Originals take over east London for the product launch of their new P.O.D.-S3.1 silhouette. In the name of #podsystem we got invited to a full day of learning, exploring, designing and later on celebrating. The star of the day & night, a unique silhouette full of ´90s adidas heritage, the P.O.D. System, short for Point Of Deflection, a technology that silos cushioning, deflecting every impact to an EVA constructed forefoot and Boost™ heel.

After an introduction to the design philosophy behind the shoe by non-other than design director Rémy Eyraud, in the middle of London`s Shoreditch, we switched to the adidas Maker Lab just around the block, a hands-on experience in footwear design was about to begin. With an inspirational speech kicking off the Maker event by Brooklyn Farm`s own Marc Dolce as well as vice president of global design at adidas Originals Nic Galway, we were off to new adventures to design and produce our own adidas sneaker. From sketching, sourcing material, sewing, spray-painting, hundreds of laces and workbenches full of passionate people, there were no limits. With the help of amazing assistants and seamstresses and all the material you could wish for, we explored the design and production process of our personal pair of three stripes. While a roaming Pharrell Williams was checking out all the creations chatting with the Makers, the clock hanging high above the Truman Brewery kept ticking, reminding us to finish our shoe in time. With a freshly born silhouette securely stored in a purple P.O.D. SYSTEM box, the big evening event at Village Underground with performances by the Migos, Pharrell, Benji B and Suspect OTB topped off a day full of inspiration and impressions.

Thank you adidas for the invitation to the launch of the P.O.D.-S3.1, what a fantastic experience.

Take a look below at the pictures and keep your eyes open for the adidas Originals P.O.D.-S3.1 releasing on the 16th of June at all Sneakersnstuff locations.
