Recap: Sweden vs Belgium at Sneakersnstuff Paris

Zlatan’s final International game was always going to be an epic event regardless of where and when he was playing, it just so happened to be the final group stage game in the 2016 European championships being held in France during Men’s Fashion week. We happened to be in the area and decided to put together a little screening of the game in the Paris store and the turnout was great.

There had to be one Belgian supporter to make things a little interesting and Axel proudly wore his Belgian kit on the VS the many Swedes repping the team in yellow – the Swedish turnout and support was overwhelming and the atmosphere in-store was incredible. Sweden went out all guns blazing over the full 90 minutes and you could see that from the get go. It was very obvious Belgium had the quality early on as picked Sweden off on the break a few times, however Sweden played with heart and desire, and most importantly Zlatan decided to step his game up. Football is nothing without controversy, Sweden scored what looked like a perfect goal thru Zlatan Ibrahimović, however the goal was disallowed by the referee for a high foot just before the ball got to Zlatan. It was inevitable Sweden could not keep up the pressure for 90 minutes and it was going to take something brilliant for Belgium to score and it did: Roma midfielder Nainggolan’s 84th minute rocket ended all of the Swede’s hope of qualifying for the knockout stages.

Regardless all in all it was a great event thanks to our friends at adidas Originals. Drinks were provided by Desperado and Zlatan’s very own Vitamin Well drink and it looked like everyone enjoyed the Swedish catering cause it went fast.
